This section lists out various presentations that I have worked on, or have presented. The focus is mostly on monetization, and they align mostly with my speaker events.
This version of the presentation was V1, presented primarily to OtherSide Entertainment.
My panel at the Live Service Gaming Summit North America allowed me to discuss what the biggest issues the Gaming Industry was facing from the Game Design perspective. Presented to Industry Leaders exclusively, my discussion primarily focused around the impact of bringing in Live Service informed Design late in the process, as well as not empathizing directly with your target players.
The Game Design Inclusivity Problem showcased the problematic, gatekept mentality that old guard Game Designers tend to engage in, which negatively impact people of diverse backgrounds in their ability to access the Game Design discipline. In this presentation, I showcased to the Baltimore Indie Game Dev community the issues that I've run into, outlined the core filters that they can expect, and methods that they can engage in to alleviate the problem.
Pathways into Gaming is a presentation that is tailored specifically for aspiring Game Developers/Entry Level folks. It's important to me as I specifically am someone who came from an abnormal game development background - and this presentation is intended to guide people onto learning that people from all types of backgrounds go through all types of journeys to achieve their dream of working in Game Development. This was presented to the Tampa Bay Gaming Community.
Future of Games is a specialized "Gamer"-centric discussion on what the future of Games looks like through the lens of engaging in Predictions through Socioeconomics. With an academic lens, it instills into Gamers the knowledge that there are a few paths forward in Games and encourages them to be more active to strive to influence the future of the Gaming Industry through their collective voices.
Future of Games V1 was presented at the Game Industry Coffee Chat & is intended to be presented at MAGWest 2026 in person at San Jose.
Monetization: The Downfall in the West outlines the costs associated with less than ideal monetization. This presentation was conducted at the College of William & Mary.
Experiences of Being a Queer Game Developer was an initiative that I created to be ASGC's "Pride" event. In collaboration with my peers Valerie Kromas & Ellie Tsang, ASGC (through Andrea Saravia Perez) hosted a Round Table to talk about the challenges that we have experiences in our career.
Queer Coffee Talks was an interview-style conversation on the Discord server "New Save Collective", a gaming community focusing around positivity in Gaming. This talk was similar to the Experiences of Being a Queer Game Developer talk, but tailored towards the perspective of "Gamers" instead of "Game Devs".
Metrics inlude:
34 RSVPs & 25 attendees (74% attendance rate)
Positive sentiment with requests for more (no formal survey).
The Price of Play: Consumer Spending Decline & Gaming Accessibility is an academic & socioeconomic focused presentation hosted in the ASGC Discord Community. This presentation was quite timely as I predicted several of the anticipated industry shifts that occurred with XBOX' shifts in philosophies, as well as anxieties related towards consumers not being able to afford games.
"Tamerlane's talk on monetization in the West covered various points, of which the most interesting to me were the differences between the West and the East, where we are going in our monetization strategy as an industry, what problems we face, and how we can approach solutions to these challenges. I appreciated this viewpoint as it gave me a peek behind the curtain that I don't normally get to think of as an artist, which allows I can expand my understanding of our industry as a whole." - Jacob I.
Monetization & Downfall in the West is the same presentation that was hosted to William & Mary as well as OtherSide - however, presented in the Game Industry Coffee Chat discord community.
EGaDS! is one of the largest student-led game developer communities in the United States & invited me to host "Monetization: Downfall in the West" after I conducted my presentation in the Game Industry Coffee Chat.
This event was one of the first events I engaged in to start practicing public speaking again - and it primarily focused around aspiring into achieving a career in the Gaming Industry at the VGDC CSUF (Video Game Development Club at CalState: Fullerton).
I was graciously invited to discuss Monetization with Joe Belousek on The Summoning Hour.
